Snowed In!

image

This is what it looks like outside of my house right now. It’s beautiful, but freezing! We are under a level three snow advisory, which means we aren’t allowed to be on the roads since we aren’t emergency vehicles. The windchill is well below zero, but we are nice and warm inside. I’m really enjoying time with my little family!

AND we are getting some things done too! :) Hubby decided to start painting our dining room, and the first coat is done now. Here is a sneak peek- I’m so excited to share it all once it’s done!:

I love it so far!

Our other projects have been much smaller, like Mr. Tatum taking our last Christmas tree down:

And I caught up on laundry, but I won’t share all that loveliness with y’all! :)

We will see what happens tomorrow as far as if we will still be snowed in. For now, we are enjoying it while we can!

What about you? Are you snowed in? Enjoying it? :)

Weekend Accountability: The Project List

There’s nothing like accountability to motivate me to do what I should be doing, and what better way than this little blog? :) Corey and I have a lovely little weekend to-do list, so I figured I will share it here, and then when the weekend is over, I’ll either show the completed projects, or admit defeat! Let’s hope it’s the first!

So here it is-

The Project List May 10th-12th
1) Finish getting all of our stuff out of the old house.
2) Remove the lovely ivy wallpaper border in the kitchen and finish painting.
3) Create kitchen command center.
4) Buy new knobs for our kitchen cabinets and install.
5) Paint Tate’s room, put his big boy bed up, and organize his clothes/toys.
6) Fix the upstairs bathroom tub drain.
7) Put our garden in and plant the new flowers I bought yesterday.
8) Maybe lawn mower shop and stop at a few local antique stores to check out possible kitchen decor.

There you have it. It should be completely doable. Should. Wish us luck! :)

And because no blog post is complete without at least one picture, here’s a little hodgepodge of some of the¬†highlights of what I will be looking at this weekend:

Yay, weekends! :)

Painting…Ick.

Can I just come right out and say it? -I HATE painting. It’s miserable and awful and no fun. Sure, I love the finished product, but the process to getting there, well, sucks.

First off I’m convinced all of those cute little house blogs you see where people paint their whole darn house in a weekend are lies. The only way it could successfully happen is because:

a) These people have too much time on their hands.

b) These people do not have a crazy three year old.

c) These people are secretly professional painters or something of the like.

It’s one of the above, or maybe a combination, that allows people to be way more productive in the painting department than I will ever be.

I didn’t even finish my kitchen. Yep, I’m a little embarrassed to actually say that out loud, let alone put it in writing, but unfortunately it’s true. I went into the house Saturday all, “Whoo! Let’s do this!” and left a couple of hours later all, “This sucks and I’m never painting again.”

Here’s a before shot:

This is the only blank wall in the kitchen and well, if there WAS an after, only the cutting in around the doors, baseboard, and ceiling (thanks, hubby, for conquering the ladder for me!) would be done. Oops.

And well, I didn’t even bother with an after. However, I did take this picture of my little man while we were having a picnic lunch in the middle of the living room:

Love this little cheeser! :)

And this is the color I used, Behr color matched to Benjamin Moore’s Stonington Gray:

This is probably going to appear in more than one room in our house! :)

But sorry, that’s all you get for now!

In my defense, apart from the crazy three year old and really not planning the little time I did have wisely, my biggest excuse is being pregnant. The use of ladders is out, and it’s really hard to properly paint 9 foot ceilings when you can hardly reach the top of door frames, let alone the top of the wall. Plus I wasn’t really feeling the greatest, which put a damper on my get up and go. I know, excuses, excuses.

Maybe it will get done after all the moving is wrapped up this week and we are actually living at the new house. Maybe by the end of next weekend? That’s gonna be my goal, but no promises, okay? :)

Oh, and the official grand tour of the house is almost ready to post… I just have a few more finishing touches and then I will share! :)
