While you’re learning all about our house and the crazy projects and changes we’ve made, what about the people living inside of it? Well, it’s your lucky day. Fueled by my own nosiness, I figured if I was a person reading a blog such as mine, I’d want to learn more about the family making it a home, not just the house itself, and so this portion of the page was born!
Ideally, my husband and I would both write little blurbs about ourselves and then together share about our adorable little boy and brand new baby girl. Um, that’s not gonna happen. One thing you will learn about my husband is he is a man of few words and even fewer online and on social media. One thing you will learn about me is I love to write and probably go so far as to over share. I love connecting with people, what can I say? Anyway though, that means you get to learn about our little family entirely through my eyes!
So who’s first? Well, let me introduce you to my husband, Corey.
First off, I was blessed beyond belief the day the good Lord brought this man into my life. You’ll hear me pick on him and point out his flaws, but he truly is an amazing man inside and out. He is a great husband who provides for our family and is so supportive. He’s loving and caring and all that jazz. And he literally is the best daddy in the entire world. Just one look as he interacts with our son and you’d agree. The bond they share is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. But before I make y’all throw up, I’ll move on to the cold hard facts! :)
Corey grew up in nearby Defiance and went to Tinora High School. He played football and track and wrestled for a couple of years as well. We became acquaintances during our high school years through, ironically, my ex boyfriend. However, we didn’t really hang out until Corey’s freshman year at Muskingum University. He played football and ran track for the Muskies and was also involved with the radio program there. He loved it, but after a whirlwind romance and the birth of our son, Corey decided to move back home and work to help support our little family. Currently he works at Titan Tire and although it’s factory work, he doesn’t really mind it. He gets to work with his dad, which is pretty cool. His biggest complaint would probably be his lack of having a way to keep playing football, but he does get to have some athletic fun through church softball and the like. He used to coach junior high track and football, but his crazy work schedule made it too hard for him to continue. He’s a great DIY-er with his biggest downfall being his lack of confidence in his work! Hopefully our projects on our forever home will help out with that! :)
So now for a bit about me…
I graduated from Fairview High School with the lovely town of Hicksville as my official hometown. If you’re familiar with our area, yes Corey and I went to rival high schools. I was so amazing he overlooked the fact that I’m a Fairview girl- haha! After high school I went to Bluffton University- a place I loved and will always consider a second home. And I guess for the timeline to make sense I have to disclose that I’m two years older than Corey. What can I say?- there’s something about those younger men! During my junior year of college I spent an amazing, life-changing semester in beautiful Northern Ireland. Without going into too much detail, coming home had some big adjustments for me, but luckily during that time Corey and I began to hang out and we just KNEW we had something special. Due to my pregnancy and the birth of Tatum, I graduated a semester late, but I did complete my double major in Business and Writing! After graduation I worked for a little over a year, and though I liked what I did, I HATED being away from my little boy. After much prayer and consideration, we decided it was best for our family for me to stay home. To make a little bit of income and to help keep Tate (and now baby Addie) entertained, I babysit throughout the week. I absolutely love it! In all honesty, I’m one of those moms that have made her children her world, and I might regret it one day, but I truly don’t think I will. My babies will only be little once and I plan to make the most of it! I still hang out with my awesome friends when I get the chance, visit other worlds through reading as much as possible, and spend probably too much time scouring Pinterest to gather ideas for our forever home! I keep planning on taking up sewing and gardening and all those other stay-at-home mom type things, but we shall see! As I said on my first post of this blog, I’ve started multiple blogs but haven’t done so well at following through. The one I did the best at, since it is a passion of mine, was a financial blog. I LOVE finances and making money work. Here is a shameless plug for that blog, in large part because the first post (actually I think it’s the second) in that blog is probably a way better “about me” than this will ever be- my story. So yeah, that’s me.
Then there is our little pride and joy, Tatum. I know it’s cliche but that little crazy boy is the best thing that ever happened in our lives (along with his sister- yep, he has to share the spotlight now that she’s here!). He loves Mario Brothers, Thomas and Friends, and Veggie Tales, just to name a few. When we moved into the new house, he was super excited about it in large part because I promised him we could decorate his new room however he wanted. His choice? Mario, with red and blue and green and yellow and pink (for all of the characters)! It was quite fun, and interesting, to pull off. :) There’s still more odds and ends I want to do, since like the majority of our house it’s a work in progress, but here’s a link to the reveal of what is done so far. I love hearing all of the crazy things he says- I’ll surely be mentioning some of them here!
And then the last, but definitely not least part of our little family is our little baby bee who we welcomed into this world on September 20, 2013! Again, another cliche, but I can’t imagine our lives without her now that little miss Adaleigh is here. She has such a personality already and is absolutely adorable. I’m so excited to watch her grow and change, and one day become one of my best friends.
And there you have it- a little bit about the family making the house in this blog a forever home! If you read this whole book, I’m impressed! And if I happened to leave anything out or if you have any questions- let me know! :) I hope you enjoy the blog!
